What’s the difference between Gin and Vodka?
Well, Vodka is a neutral spirit that has been made from agricultural origin. This could be corn, rye, potatoes etc. The List goes on. Once distilled it must be filtered through carbon, otherwise it is a neutral spirit. Gin, or its original name of Jenever (slightly different to the modern day gins), is a neutral spirit that must be predominantly flavoured with Juniper. To be a London Dry Gin it also must contain no added sugar after distillation (unlike Gin liqueur).
Why do you feature trains?
Our distillery is under the mainline railway between London and Penzance, just east of Taunton in Somerset. We feel that there is so much history and heritage with the railways that needs to be shared.
What do you use to flavour?
All of our products are carefully thought through. Almost all of our botanicals can be found along the original route of the Great Western Mainline and the surrounding areas. We try to use as local as possible (most of the botanicals are grown about 10ft away from the stills!), we have arrangements with local growers and producers to produce natural, chemical free, sustainable, hand made and harvested products.
Can I visit the distillery?
At the moment, no. Our license doesn’t cover the public attending the distillery. It is certainly something that we will be looking at in the future.
